City Architecture Photowalk with Andrew Kennedy
Look up. Look closer. See Brisbane differently.
ACC is delighted to have Brisbane photographer and educator Andrew Kennedy leading this special City Architecture Photowalk on Saturday 31 October, from 3.30–5.30pm. Meeting at the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank
This won’t simply be a wander around the city taking photographs of buildings. Andrew will encourage us to look beyond the obvious—to explore shape, line, light, shadow, perspective, abstraction and the relationships between buildings and the spaces around them.
Whether architecture is already your thing or you’ve never really known where to begin, this is a great opportunity to spend a couple of hours learning to see the familiar with fresh eyes.
And here’s the important bit: places are strictly limited to just 14 photographers. So if you’d like to join us, don’t leave it sitting in the “I’ll think about it” basket for too long.
First in… best dressed!
Andrew says: “Two hours on foot through the city, looking at the newer buildings and bridges along the river. This is about how you see a building rather than which button you press. Walking up to something tall, looking up, finding the line that makes it the hero of the frame, and then finding the smaller picture hiding inside the big one.
We finish while the light is still good, so if you want to stay on by yourself as the building lights come on, you are already standing in one of the best spots in the city.
It is a short, flat walk on public footpaths. Numbers are capped at fourteen so everybody gets time and attention. Bring the camera you normally use.”
