Program Evening – Creating a Visual Narrative – Print Critique Session with Kris Anderson

February 16 @ 7:15 pm - 10:00 pm

Our first Programs night for the year, we have club favourite, Kris Anderson, joining us for a print critique evening.

For this print critique session, we invite members to explore the idea of a visual narrative through either a single printed image or a cohesive set of images such as a diptych or triptych. Your narrative should communicate a story, mood, message, or moment that engages the viewer and encourages thoughtful discussion. Consider how your subject choice, composition, lighting, colour, and processing contribute to expressing that narrative with clarity and intention.

Deliberate consideration to your paper choice is vital. The texture, weight, and finish of the paper can significantly influence how your narrative is received. Matte and textured papers may evoke softness or nostalgia, while glossy or metallic papers can highlight vibrancy and contrast. Your print medium forms part of your storytelling, so choose with purpose.

All creative photographic techniques may be employed — traditional or experimental — as long as the work remains photographic in origin. AI-generated components are not permitted. Every element included in your print must be your own original photographic work.

How this will work

Members are invited to enter one image only, however, and only 20 prints in total will be critiqued and these will be selected randomly.  You will be notified prior to the evening if you have been successful, so please enter your strongest work and be prepared to discuss your creative choices.

Let your imagination lead the way and allow your print to speak as both a crafted artwork and a story worth sharing.
